The Supreme Court of Pakistan is the highest court in the judicial hierarchy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is located in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The Supreme Court was established on March 23, 1956, under the Constitution of Pakistan. The Chief Justice of Pakistan is the head of the Supreme Court and is appointed by the President of Pakistan. The other judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
The Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in a number of cases, including cases involving the interpretation of the Constitution, cases involving the fundamental rights of citizens, and cases involving the federal government. The Supreme Court also has appellate jurisdiction over decisions made by lower courts.
