Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) is a state-owned public utility under the administrative control of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), formerly a part of the Water & Power Development Authority’s (WAPDA) Power Wing and headquartered in Peshawar, KP, Pakistan. PESCO is responsible for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in KP. The company has a network of over 13,000 kilometers of transmission lines and over 1 million electricity meters. PESCO serves over 4 million consumers in KP.
PESCO’s main sources of power generation are hydroelectricity, thermal power, and renewable energy. The company has a number of hydroelectric power stations in KP, including the Tarbela Dam, the Warsak Dam, and the Dargai Dam. PESCO also has a number of thermal power plants in KP, including the Guddu Thermal Power Plant and the Lakhra Thermal Power Plant.
PESCO’s transmission network consists of 132 kV, 66 kV, and 33 kV lines. The company’s distribution network consists of 11 kV and 440 V lines.
