The PDMA is headed by a Director General who is appointed by the government of Sindh. The PDMA has its headquarters in Karachi and has regional offices in all major cities of Sindh.
The PDMA is a key player in disaster management in Sindh. The agency is responsible for coordinating the response of all government agencies and non-governmental organizations during a disaster. The PDMA also plays a role in raising awareness about disaster risk reduction and in preparing communities for disasters.
The PDMA has been involved in a number of major disasters in Sindh, including the 2005 earthquake, the 2010 floods, and the 2011 drought. The agency has played a vital role in the relief and recovery efforts following these disasters.
