The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) is an independent and autonomous body established in 1979 under the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan Order, 1979. Its main objective is to make recommendations to the government for improving the state of laws and justice in Pakistan.
The LJCP comprises the Chief Justice of Pakistan as its Chairman, the Chief Justices of the provincial high courts, the Attorney General for Pakistan, and other members appointed by the government. The Commission is responsible for conducting studies and research on various legal issues, identifying areas where the law needs to be reformed or amended, and making recommendations to the government for legislative or administrative action.
In addition, the LJCP is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of laws and ensuring that they are being enforced effectively. It works closely with the judiciary, the legal profession, and other stakeholders to promote access to justice and the rule of law in Pakistan.
