The Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) is a department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan, based in Islamabad. The primary responsibility of the DEMP is to manage and regulate electronic media in the country, including television and radio broadcasting.
DEMP is responsible for issuing licenses to electronic media outlets and ensuring that they comply with the relevant laws, regulations, and standards. It also monitors the content of electronic media to ensure that it is in line with the country’s cultural and religious values and does not violate any laws or regulations.
In addition to regulating electronic media, DEMP is also responsible for managing the government’s publications, including books, pamphlets, and other materials. It oversees the publication and distribution of official documents and information, including the government’s annual budget, policy statements, and reports.
The Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications plays a vital role in promoting transparency, accountability, and access to information in Pakistan. By regulating electronic media and managing government publications, it helps to ensure that the public has access to accurate and reliable information about the country’s affairs.
